Built on hard work, honest values, and a lifelong passion for the trades.
Rob's introduction to construction came early. Growing up, he helped his father maintain the family's Victorian four-family income property — hauling cast iron tubs from the third floor and discovering the hidden history of a 19th-century building during demo work. That early curiosity about how things were built never left him.
In high school, Rob began working for a local roofing company and quickly developed a passion for the trades. His senior year of high school, he founded College Contracting Company with a group of friends — taking on any project a customer trusted them with. He continued running the business while attending college and competing in Division I football, and after two years was awarded a full athletic scholarship to UMass Amherst as a tight end, where he went on to set the school record for receiving yards at his position and attracted the attention of professional scouts.
In 2014, Rob was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. After two seasons, a career-ending injury brought his playing days to a close. He transitioned into the tech industry, joining a Silicon Valley startup as a sales representative — but after a year on the West Coast, he knew it was time to come home.
After returning to Massachusetts, Rob met his wife Catheryn, started a family, and returned to the work he had always loved. After several years with a high-end residential remodeler, he founded Blanchflower Construction Company in 2020. Since then, he has built the company around the values his parents instilled in him from a young age — values that show in every project the company takes on.
"Whatever you are, be a good one."
From hauling cast iron tubs at age twelve to founding his own company — Rob has been building things his entire life.

The same values Rob learned growing up guide every decision we make on the job.
We communicate openly and honestly at every stage of a project — including when we find something unexpected behind the walls. You will never be left with a hidden problem.
Every project is executed by our own experienced team. We do not pass your home off to unfamiliar subcontractors for the work that matters most.
We specify James Hardie, GAF, Azek, and Marvin on every job because we stand behind what we install. Budget alternatives are available, but we will always tell you what we prefer and why.
Rob is personally invested in every project. When you call, you reach someone who knows your job and cares about the outcome.
